Arriva il giorno della partenza. I nostri colleghi ci offrono un buon caffè e ci accompagnano alla stazione. Un saluto certo di non essere un addio, forte il desiderio di proseguire il nostro lavoro insieme, nei prossimi anni scolastici, coinvolgendo anche gli studenti. Saliamo sul treno per Madrid e ci prende un’improvvisa commozione, spinta dalla gratitudine di aver vissuto un’esperienza tanto proficua ed edificante sia sul piano professionale che su quello umano. Il nostro volo in tarda serata ci permette di gironzolare per una Madrid calda e non eccessivamente affollata. Dopo una sosta rilassante al Parco del Buen Ritiro, passeggiando senza fretta ‘por las hermosas calles’ della capitale, ci dirigiamo verso Plaza Major, Palacio Real, Templo de Bodan, e, infine, Puerta del Sol, dove c’è il famoso orso che mangia bacche di corbezzolo, emblema della città. Sfiniti ma felici di quest’ultima incetta della luminosa aria spagnola, saliamo sul nostro aereo per Roma portando con noi un bagaglio di riflessioni e di esperienze che non vediamo l’ora di condividere con i nostri colleghi e studenti.

The day of departure arrives. Our colleagues offer us a good coffee and accompany us to the station. A goodbye certain not to be a farewell, a strong desire to continue our work together, in the coming school years, involving the students as well. We board the train to Madrid and a sudden emotion takes hold of us, driven by gratitude for having lived such a fruitful and edifying experience both professionally and personally. Our late evening flight allows us to wander around a warm and not overly crowded Madrid. After a relaxing stop at the Parque del Buen Ritiro, strolling unhurriedly ‘por las hermosas calles’ of the capital, we head to Plaza Major, Palacio Real, Templo de Bodan, and, finally, Puerta del Sol, where there is the famous bear eating arbutus berries, the emblem of the city. Exhausted but happy with this last grasp of the bright Spanish air, we board our plane for Rome, taking with us a baggage of reflections and experiences that we look forward to sharing with our colleagues and students.
